Data sources and methods (summary) - Indice of quality (B2)
Incidence
Data: high quality regional (coverage between 10% and 50%).
Method: estimated from national mortality by modelling, using incidence mortality ratios derived from recorded data in country-specific cancer registries .
Mortality
Data: medium quality complete vital registration.
Method: rates projected to 2012.
Methods (detailed)
 Incidence
Estimated from estimated national mortality for 2012 by modelling, using a set of age-, sex- and site-specific incidence:mortality ratios obtained by the aggregation of recorded data from 12 Spanish cancer registries (covering 21% of the population) for the period 2006-2007.
Female breast (C50) and prostate (C61) cancers: regional incidence rates from 12 Spanish cancer registries for the period 2006-2007 were applied to 2012 population.

 Mortality
National rates (1990-2009) were projected to 2010-2014 and applied to 2012 population.
